While the rodeo events and live music performances won’t begin until Friday, the grounds were for attendees to enjoy food trucks, local vendors, carnival rides, a petting zoo and even mutton busting.

Family, food and dancing — three cornerstones of Hispanic culture — will fill Fountain Mall from 6-9 p.m. on Friday for the Hispanic Student Association’s (HSA) annual campus-wide event, Fiesta. As far as HSA president and Fort Worth senior Daniela Lopez is concerned, this is the first time in the group’s history that the event will be held during the fall semester.

Strings of all sounds, shapes and sizes filled Jones Concert Hall on Monday night for the first Baylor Symphony Orchestra concert of the fall semester. Conductor Jeffrey Grogan led the group in playing Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, his first concert conducting the group.

This weekend has been a win for rock n’ roll, R&B and pop-lovers alike. This Tunesday, I’m breaking down one of my new favorite songs from Lola Young’s third studio album, the musical miracle that is Buckingham Nicks and more. Tune in to get the scoop on these fresh releases.

Suddenly, high-pitched screams erupted, heads flipped toward the glowing stage and the crowd surged forward as the man himself stepped up to the mic and kicked off the night with “Never Get Tired (of Loving You).”

Attendees stood with arms raised in worship as Daigle sang hits throughout the night, such as “Look Up Child,” “Trust In You,” “Rescue” and her new single, “Let It Be a Hallelujah.” In between songs, she interacted with the crowd by signing a poster, shouting out a fan who brought her Super Bowl jersey and listening to the worship as she let the voices in the crowd cry out during choruses.

With Austin Psych Fest just around the corner, it’s time to start getting in the groove by listening to some trippy tunes. Whether you enjoy rock that’s a little grungier and heavier or low and slow dream pop, this fest will cater to all different tastes of psych music.

Golden hour set in as hundreds filed into the Foster Pavilion on Tuesday evening. Speckled among the crowd in the pit and the decks were t-shirts, sweatshirts and jerseys bearing the capitalized words “Child of God” and “Forrest Frank.”

“Malcolm Todd” is a collection of songs that is chock-full of emotions. Whether that be feelings of inadequacy, confidence, longing, betrayal or adoration, Todd masterfully expresses and projects them all into song form. I found that all of my favorites from this album also seemed to be the ones where Todd seemed to be spinning out of control and pouring out his heart. These allow the listener a peek into how he sees, feels and thinks — a picture of beautiful chaos.

From the aisle to the dance floor, these songs will have your wedding party blinking away tears of joy, breaking out the moves on the dance floor and tearing up once again as you drive off with the love of your life.

With Diadeloso just around the corner, I can imagine most Bears are ready to get crazy. But hold up — there’s still work to be done before the fun can be had. So, before you turn up next week, here are some mellow bops to accompany your academics this week.

There’s a good mix of Waco happenings this weekend — something for the bookworms, the theatre nerds and the paleontology enthusiasts. If any of these apply to you (and even if they don’t), be sure to check out these events.

One of the biggest new names in Christian contemporary music, Forrest Frank, will be paying a visit to the Foster Pavilion this spring at 7 p.m. on April 22. This concert, which still has tickets ready for the taking, will kick off the first of many musical performances occurring at Baylor over the next two years.

The vibes of this week’s Tunesday are aligning with the sunny, summery weather we’ve been having here in Waco. If you’re looking for some new tunes to flex as you cruise through downtown with the windows rolled down (cold beverage in hand, of course), I got you.

As golden hour took over, the powder-throwing began. Students wore white to preserve the multicolor splotches left by the powder residue and dashed around Fountain Mall trying to nab their friends with the dust, laughing and shrieking as they ran. The Holi powder covered clothes, skin, hair and even teeth. No one was safe from the colorful bombardment.
