Equestrian
No. 10 Baylor equestrian took an early lead against No. 7 Fresno State but faltered in Reining and Flat, leading to an 11-9 decision in favor of the Bulldogs Friday afternoon at the Student Horse Center in California.
In front of a home crowd excited for the beginning of the season, the Bears delivered a dominating performance against the traveling South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a 14-3 victory.
With an off week under its belt, Baylor Equestrian looks ahead to a road matchup against Oklahoma state. The meet will take place at the Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Friday at noon.
Tennis
No. 17 Baylor men’s tennis opened conference play with a 4-0 sweep of Arizona State Friday night at the Hurd Tennis Center.
After sweeping a doubleheader last weekend, No. 14 Baylor men’s tennis looks to continue its hot stretch in another doubleheader Sunday at noon against Cornell and at 6 p.m. versus Lehigh at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Growing up in Raleigh, N.C., Baylor men’s tennis head coach Michael Woodson was not interested in playing tennis until the seventh grade when his mom convinced him to pick up a spare racket and try out for the junior varsity team.
Golf
“Today was a tough day for the Bears,” head coach Jay Goble said. “I feel like we were prepared and ready to have a great day, but this game humbles you quickly. We will regroup and get ready to have a much better day tomorrow.”
Baylor men’s golf ended the Cabo Collegiate strong, finishing tied for 11th place after an even-par 284 in the final round Tuesday at the Twin Dolphins Club in Los Cabos, Mexico.
After an underwhelming ending to the 2024 season — placing 14th in the final rounds of the 2023-24 NCAA Championship — Baylor men’s golf has been training hard to rebound in 2025.
