“We’re here for people to just come and hang out or if students want to come talk with another student, we’re here for them and we love to build community,” Bonner said. “We want every student who is in recovery, an ally or any student in general to feel like they have a place to go and to feel like they’re included on campus.”

Phi Gamma Delta’s FIJI Fright Night haunted house took place Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 22–24, on Fountain Mall. This year, FIJI paired with Zeta Tau Alpha and the Baylor Activities Council to bring the biggest scares to Baylor’s campus yet.

With Halloween right around the corner, other holidays that occur during this season are not often in the spotlight. The day after Halloween marks the celebration of one of these holidays — Dia de los Muertos.

“It started when I was about 9 years old,” Little said. “I was one of those nerdy little kids who spent her lunchtime in the library reading real ghost stories.”

“Occasionally eating a high amount of candy has not been shown to cause’ long-term effects, but it can definitely have short-term effects if the person is prone to hyperglycemia,” Taylor said. “On the other hand, eating an excessive amount of sugar over the long term can have detrimental effects.”

Waco Police Department says choosing a safe Halloween costume is another vital consideration. Costumes should allow for easy movement, and masks or wigs that could impair vision should be avoided. Additionally, it’s wise to steer clear of fake weapons or items that might resemble real weapons, as these can create misunderstandings and cause alarm among others.

A traditional theater show is typically a large room with a stage and seating for an audience. Actors come onto the stage and give a performance in their makeup and costumes while surrounded by a designed set. However, Silent House Theatre Co. decided to flip some of those aspects on their heads with its performance of “House of Dracula.”

While some students have been preparing their arrangements for over a year and a half in advance, others started the process in the spring. Most of the pieces that will be showcased in the concert will be taken from movies or musicals such as “How to Train Your Dragon” and “WALL-E,” Smith said.

Madden said that in the past, money raised for Fright Night has been donated to the American Red Cross. Though FIJI continues to partner with the ARC, they plan to direct the funds to a more specific cause.

The holiday season has officially started, and everyone is excited for their favorite upcoming holidays. However, there are different perceptions of when to start celebrating Christmas. I believe the time to start celebrating and putting up decorations is after Thanksgiving dinner.

Not only do horror movies take advantage of their audience’s deepest, darkest fears and phobias, but they can also have negative impacts on their viewers’ mental health.

“It’s going to be an incredibly fun event. It’ll be incredibly unique, and I also feel like it’s fantastic for students to attend and support the Ronald McDonald House Charities, just because it’s really important, at least to me, to keep those families together,” Hoyt said.
