The first-ever Sic ‘Em Slam is bringing poetry and spoken word to the Barfield Drawing Room from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. The Baylor Activities Council and the Division of Student Life are hosting the showcase in an effort to create awareness of the diversity of experiences on campus, inviting students, faculty and staff to share their stories through the art form.

From May 3 to 5, Landlock Fest will call Waco Surf home, bringing with it headliners such as Midland, Shakey Graves and Young the Giant. However, music isn’t the only thing festival-goers will find on the 500-acre property during the event. Festival co-founder and producer Matt Bizer said it will include five different zones, each representing a different region of the world where surf culture thrives.

All-University Sing | Feb. 15-17, 22-24 | 6:30 p.m. | Baylor’s best and brightest annual tradition returns to campus for two weekends. See friends and familiar faces take the stage in hopes of advancing to Pigskin Revue in the fall. Tickets for weekend one are sold out, but a livestream is available for weekend two.

Love is in the air, and with Valentine’s Day on the horizon, the Martin Museum of Art’s annual Print-a-Valentine event is approaching. Allison Chew, director of the museum, said the event will include a series of six wood-cut design templates from which attendees can choose to create a print.

Celebrating Black History Month in Waco can mean visiting Black-owned restaurants and businesses, but there are a host of other events and learning opportunities on campus and throughout the city all month long.

Enduring the fake blood in the Fright Night haunted house supports getting real blood to hospitals in need across the country. All donations and revenue earned from T-shirt sales support the American Red Cross.

As temperatures drop this weekend, it’s the perfect time to get out into Waco and explore all there is to offer — from autumn festivals to rubber duck races.
