“I knew from the moment we started preparation that I wanted every aspect of the weekend to revolve around community and creating a peaceful environment,” Cantu said. “I want every person who steps on campus this weekend to feel at home and for the primary focus to be spending time with their loved ones.”

According to Parallel’s application to the Waco Plan Commission, the complex will be 85 feet tall, and the inside will include amenities like a double-height lobby, a fitness center with a sauna, a market, an outdoor terrace and study areas. Baylor track and field athletes are trading competition for community this fall, leading a six-week youth running program through the national nonprofit Run Your City. Baylor is commonly recognized as a Baptist university, but as the school has grown and modernized, many denominations have made their mark on it. With so many different viewpoints of Christianity surrounding students, it is important to remember the Lord’s original command for us to love each other.

Today, young audiences see heroines who are smart, strong, emotional and flawed. They are a reflection of real-life complexity. These characters remind us that strength looks different for everyone and that’s OK. They taught us to think critically, embrace individuality and stand up for what we believe in — lessons that stick with us long after the credits roll.
