Four months ago, Houston sophomore Brooklyn Joseph began her hair locking services after doing a favor for a friend. That talent soon turned into a business venture. Joseph’s business offers starter locs, retwists and styling, which has allowed her to make money while in school.

It can be easy to compare or feel left out when you see influencers creating these looks and living this clean/aesthetic lifestyle, but truthfully, it’s easy to achieve.
ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” gives attention to a profession that, however much we say it’s needed and valued, gets lost.
“I was taught that beauty is about perfecting the artist’s self-disappearance, cutting off the things we’re born with in order to be seen. Our individuality and self-emulation is beauty,” Alok said. “Beauty is about becoming yourself. There is no beauty standard.”
Generation Z has never lived in a world where the internet has not existed, which makes it “a force in business across industries, brands and digital platforms,” according to Forbes. This is why brands are very focused on marketing to Gen Z in the right way.
“Style is what you make it. Trust your own style and develop it, and if you’re confident people will appreciate it. Just have fun and explore.”
A harsh reality that took me a long time to accept is that I am accountable for my own feelings. People are accountable for harm and are harmful every day. So, your feelings could get hurt 24/7 if you let them. That is completely up to you.

Baylor’s Women in Business organization is comprised of students willing to play the entrepreneurship game regardless of whether men outnumber them in the field. The organization was created in 2006 as a way to foster community among women in the business school.
