“Watch your surroundings, be careful and take your medication,” she said. “When people are out of town, they need to make sure they’re paying attention to what’s around them.”

“Good or bad, you have to remember influencers want your attention so they can sell it to their sponsors and partners,” he said. “They want you to feel a certain way about how you look, so they can offer you the solution, [which is] buying more products. They don’t always have your best interest in mind.”
According to the United Nations Environment Programme, the fashion industry is responsible for around 10% of global carbon emissions. This is more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined.
“Regular sleep, balanced meals and physical activity can make a huge difference,” he said. “Instead of relying on energy drinks, students might try switching to lower-caffeine options like tea and avoid caffeine after noon for better sleep.”
Research finds that noise can significantly impact cognitive performance. For instance, high noise levels may hinder focus, while moderate noise can enhance creativity and problem-solving.

“There’s a sense of responsibility when you work with a donated body,” Alwani said. “It’s a reminder that these were people who made the choice to help others learn and grow.”
“Occasionally eating a high amount of candy has not been shown to cause’ long-term effects, but it can definitely have short-term effects if the person is prone to hyperglycemia,” Taylor said. “On the other hand, eating an excessive amount of sugar over the long term can have detrimental effects.”
For some people with long commutes, it can be a lifesaver. But too much freedom can be a bad thing. Without a structured environment, it can lead to procrastination or working in small bursts surrounded by long periods of distraction.
Some students believe that “yo-yo” sleeping, which is getting little sleep during the week and catching up on weekends, will balance things out. But Scullin’s research shows that inconsistent sleep patterns can throw off the body’s internal clock, which affects both academic performance and long-term health. His studies found that students who stick to regular sleep schedules perform better during finals.
“Foods are recalled for a variety of reasons, including bacterial, viral and fungal contamination, or due to foreign objects like glass, plastic or metal shavings,” Wilfong said. “Mislabeling or unreported allergens are also common reasons.”
In addition to cancer prevention, Baylor’s research on water and health is impacting global communities. Collaborations with organizations like the Department of Energy and the National Alliance for Water Innovation focus on solving issues such as water security and sustainable water usage. These interdisciplinary projects aim to improve local infrastructure and provide insight to address global water challenges.
With flu season just around the corner, Baylor is making it easy and free for students, faculty and staff to stay healthy with a series of mobile flu clinics running from Sept. 19 to Nov. 12. This time of year often brings a spike in illness, but the inclusion of mobile clinics provide campus with quick, convenient care.
Bheraiya now works for Oklahoma City Thunder as an account manager on the courts and said the Career Center played a role in helping him refine his vision for the future.
“[Baylor University Counseling Center’s] mission is to foster wholeness for every student through caring relationships, cultural humility and integrated mental health services,” Annie Mathew, the director of the counseling center, said.
“You can do it as long as you’re truly taking care of your body,” she said. “Know how much stress you can handle, and don’t push yourself more than you should.”
