Men's Basketball
After a superstar career at Midway High School, Rice forward Caden Powell is headed back to his hometown. The rising senior is the sixth incoming Baylor transfer, he announced Monday afternoon.
For the first time since the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season, Baylor men’s basketball finished with an offense ranked outside the top 100. Head coach Scott Drew isn’t about to let that happen again.
The 7-foot big man started in all 71 games his first two seasons at High Point, averaging 6.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
Women's Basketball
After missing over a month of action due to a right knee injury, No. 4 Baylor women’s basketball was prepared to field questions regarding the status of junior forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs heading into March Madness. But the Bears had an ace up their sleeve.
Reaching the program’s 21st consecutive tournament appearance, graduate guard Sarah Andrews and senior guard Jada Walker leaned on leadership and experience to put No. 4 Baylor women’s basketball in a position to succeed in March.
Early on No. 4 Baylor women’s basketball junior forward Bella Fontleroy’s career head coach Nicki Collen quickly identified her unique defensive poise. From taking charges to blocking shots Fontleroy set out at the beginning of the year to strengthen her defensive game and better understand opponent tendencies.
Equestrian
Baylor equestrian knocked off No. 5 Georgia 11-8 for its first ranked win of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
The spring portion of the season for Baylor equestrian is set for this weekend, and assistant coach (horsemanship) Jessie Weisinger said the team is taking a day-to-day approach going into Saturday’s match against Georgia.
Baylor equestrian fifth-year senior jumping seat Dominika Silvestri waited her turn to get into the spotlight. But once she got her opportunity, she took it, and she hasn’t looked back.
Tennis
No. 13 Baylor men’s tennis extended its winning streak to seven with a 4-0 sweep against Texas Tech on Senior Night Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
During his time on tour former ATP No. 1 Andy Murray was a force to be reckoned with there being few that could keep up with him. At just 17 years-old sophomore Louis Bowden was one of those few.
No. 16 Baylor men’s tennis took care of business, dominating their Sunday doubleheader, winning 4-1 over Oklahoma State and 7-0 over Prairie View A&M at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Golf
“This golf course will test you, but par is a good score,” McGraw said. “The reality is, if you play well, you’re probably going to make it [to nationals]. If you don’t, you’re probably not going to make it. So ideally, we just need to do what we’ve been doing lately, and that will probably be good enough to get out.”
“I think every tournament since the Aggie — even though the finishes might not be first — we know we’re getting better and starting to yield the fruit of hard work,” McGraw said. “We still have a long way to go to be the team we want to be, but you can feel the energy, so I love that.”

Missi was tabbed as the 22nd overall pick in ESPN’s Mock Draft on April 17, while Walter was projected in the lottery at No. 12. Fraschilla said they’re both “prototype NBA players once they physically mature in the next two, three, four [or] five years.”
In the 2023 season, Major League Baseball officials added the pitch clock to aid the speed of the game. After the season and now into 2024, I’ve seen that the pitch clock has been very useful and has accelerated the pace of the game.
