All Are Neighbors, held in the Cashion Academic Center, drew 270 ticketed attendees, totaling 352 people, including VIP guests and speakers, nearly filling all available seats. Before you start replacing your for-fun reading time with doomscrolling, there are easy reads to take your mind off classwork without completely taking it over. For the student finding themself burnt out on reading, I have a few books that will get you through the semester.
Imagine that in the middle of October there was a nice long break. Students could utilize this time to catch up on homework and see their families — but mainly to reflect on the semester and take a break.
I started reevaluating those friendships, and I asked myself if I was happy in them — only to find that I truly and honestly wasn’t.
Why are adults, who pay to be here, being graded for the classes they choose to attend?
“Once you overcome the 1-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films,” Bong Joon-Ho, the director of “Parasite,” said after winning the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film in 2020. Most of the world consumes English and adapts to fit where Americans will not. The least we can do is make an effort to experience foreign language films.
Just because you pull an all-nighter for a midterm, doesn’t mean you can survive “Squid Game.” If “Squid Game” were open to college students, would your survival skills pull through or would you be eliminated right from the start?
The multicultural affairs office was a great idea to create, but unless it continues to strive to include all cultures, it is not doing its duty to our student body. Baylor, November is Native American Heritage Month; right this wrong.
