Taking a break from the frigid temperatures in Waco, Baylor women’s golf opened the 2024 season with a fourth-place finish at the Match in the Desert on Monday at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Superstition Mountain, Ariz.

“We offer both competitive and recreational leagues for each sport and have enough spots to fill up about 200 to 250 teams for each sport,” Reid Jackson said. “As for how long each sport’s season lasts, there is a three-week regular season, followed by a three-week playoff period.”

There are six shows in total taking place Feb. 15-17 and Feb. 22-24, but tickets should be purchased immediately upon release as they tend to sell out quickly.

Baylor track and field finished with nine competitors earning a medal, several personal bests and junior sprinter Nathaniel Ezekiel setting a new NCAA 600-yard record from the two-day Corky Classic at Texas Tech’s Sports Performance Center in Lubbock.
For the final time, No. 9 Baylor men’s basketball moseyed to Austin to take on Texas as Big 12 rivals. In a tight contest that came down to the last second, Longhorns junior guard Tyrese Hunter raced to the cup and stunned the Bears at the buzzer, lifting Texas to a 75-73 win on Saturday afternoon in the Moody Center.
As winter brings cold and freezing temperatures to Waco, faculty and staff are taking part in keeping campus cats warm and fed — and students can too.
Since the introduction of Baylor’s new digital ID card at the beginning of the spring semester, 60% of on-campus students have signed up for and begun taking advantage of the service. However, off-campus students, faculty and staff will have to wait for it to be extended to them.
Dr. Kristen Padilla, director of the center, said she has seen the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities grow and transform over the last 10 years. According to its website, the center is hosting two events in January — one for students and one for faculty and staff members.
Junior Oskar Brostrom Poulsen found a three-set win to give the Bears their third win of the 2024 season.

Looking at the games played so far this year, head coach Nicki Collen and the No. 12-ranked Bears have been a dominant force. On both sides of the ball, the Bears have been able to outperform their competition in nearly all statistical categories.

“My experience is that Baylor does a great job developing leaders because it has this focus on Texas, the church and the world,” Eckert said. “I feel like there is a great market for developing leadership for Texas, for the U.S. and then increasingly an international focus on Christian leadership.”

While the spring Welcome Weekend might be less known than its fall counterpart, it’s a beneficial time for transfers and new students to become established at Baylor, said Dr. Nathan Shelburne, director of New Student Programs.
