The AfterDark Variety Show, presented by the student productions committee, kicked off family weekend. The show aims to showcase Baylor’s many talents to new freshmen and their visiting families. Friday night’s show was emceed by First Gentleman Brad Livingstone.

“One of the biggest challenges is making sure you can coordinate where the 200 members of the group you’re helping are getting to the places they need to go and being present for all the rehearsals,” Caughlin said.
Students are showing up to class with hairspray locked in, tapping their feet to the beat of their performances. All-University Sing, a tradition that has captivated Baylor for 62 years, kicked off Thursday in Waco Hall.
Flashy talents like hip-hop dancing, a cappella and ventriloquism at After Dark wowed students and parents on Friday.
Sudent Productions hosted the annual variety show in Waco Hall to a full crowd of families and students as a part of Baylor’s Family Weekend festivities.
“Traditionally, we have two nights of auditions,” Cheryl Mathis, assistant director of Campus Programs, said. “Usually, we have 50 different acts apply and audition.”
It’s not all “song and dance” for Student Productions’ After Dark variety show coming today to Family Weekend.

Students will gather as a community to connect and build relationships in a creative and artistic way at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Bill Daniels Student Center Den.
In the fall of 1909, Baylor alumni received a surprising invitation from their alma mater. A postcard signed by three professors asked the graduates to return to campus to “renew former associations and friendships, and catch the Baylor spirit again.” With that postcard, Baylor Homecoming was born.
The Baylor’s 11th annual StompFest is starting at 7 p.m. today in Waco Hall, with another performance at the same time Saturday.
