“It’s a result of just near optimal conditions for the survivability of the insects throughout its life cycle,” Dr. Jeff Back, a lab instrument specialist at the Center for Reservoir and Aquatic System Research, said. “And so lots of eggs hatch, lots of immature survive to adulthood, and, voila, you have cricket apocalypse.”

All Are Neighbors, held in the Cashion Academic Center, drew 270 ticketed attendees, totaling 352 people, including VIP guests and speakers, nearly filling all available seats. The event was created in response to TPUSA’s presence on campus, but speakers and organizers consistently emphasized that the gathering was not merely reactive. Instead, it functioned as a faith-centered call to action, rooted in Christian teaching and expressed through civic engagement.

People deal with change differently, but there tend to be two types of people in this world: those who accept change with open arms and those who fear it. However you cope, your attitude toward change matters, so it may be time for a mindset makeover.

With all the promotion Baylor does for the event, the preparation of updating and perfecting resumes and the careful selection of a professional outfit the night before, I would hope the event would be worth my time. But each year my hopes are dashed by the lack of options for journalism majors.

Being busy college students can get us into the habit of being work-minded all the time. Being dedicated to your studies and working a job are both good things — but you’re still a kid. Having fun and being joyful is important.

Politicians — the ones who craft our laws and run our government — should be held to the highest standard of speech imaginable. Yet, we are constantly letting them get away with it every time. For a country who claims open disdain for almost all politicians, how are we so lax on keeping them accountable?
