Baylor’s chapter of Letters of Love recently hosted their first club meeting. Letters of Love is an international nonprofit supporting children in hospitals by making cards.
What started out as an available job on campus working at the Texas Collection eventually turned into a passion and kickstarted the career of a 1984 Baylor alumnus. Alan Lefever is director of the Texas Baptist Historical Collection and has served there for 33 years as the director. Before that, he was a student employee for six years at Baylor, working for the Texas Collection a total of 39 years.
“There’s a sense of responsibility when you work with a donated body,” Alwani said. “It’s a reminder that these were people who made the choice to help others learn and grow.”
Despite the hope of the Democratic Party, the Republican Party gained a lead and ran with the House Tuesday night. Though votes are still being counted, the GOP currently has a 17 seat lead. Despite this, the majority might still be up in the air with the GOP currently only holding one seat from the Democrats.
Remember the words of Abraham Lincoln, who, honestly, lived in a time of much deeper division than we do. “A house divided cannot stand,” he said, echoing the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. He knew it then, and we know it now: America has two choices.

So, you’re going home for Thanksgiving break. If you were at Baylor last year, going home for Thanksgiving was weird — we literally got up and left for the rest of the semester. If you’ve been here since before 2020, you didn’t even have a whole week off for Thanksgiving. This break is noticeably different than any other Thanksgiving break we’ve ever had, and it’s OK to feel indifferent about it.
While the intentions behind the Campus Guardian program are good, there is one thing that would make the majority of the student body far more comfortable on campus: a program where students can request an escort home due to the uneasiness of being alone at night.
Yesterday, an article was published about Mexican food in Waco but then proceeded to mention a handful of places well within the Baylor bubble. Articles like this continue to further the stereotype that Waco has nothing to offer Baylor students, when even a cursory Google search would have pulled up an incredible number of local Mexican places.
All too often, you hear about students who are overextended, stressed and overall discontent with their experience, but do any of us do anything about it? I have the solution: Stop doing things you don’t like doing. Your decision will probably save you time, money and mental health.
