At the beginning of the spring semester, Baylor students were made aware by their professors that Baylor’s attendance policy has been brought back to its normal accountability. Now, students are expected to meet each of their professors’ required attendance points in order to reach academic success.

In the age of COVID-19, no one is a stranger to Zoom calls. However, for a group of educators led by Dr. Bradley Carpenter — an associate professor of educational leadership — a click of the “join meeting” button is followed not by a lecture or a conference, but by meditation and discussion on self-care.

What distinguishes this path from today’s misguided ones is that it presents modesty as an opportunity to honor and cherish ourselves, not as a chore that must be done to prevent others from looking at us in an impure way, but above all, modesty is about empowerment and self-worth.

A typical day for Waco senior Harris Siddiq consists of heading to class from noon to 4 p.m., going to work at 8 p.m., then hopping on Twitch to stream Call of Duty: Warzone from 11 p.m. until around 4 or 5 a.m. While Siddiq said his schedule is hectic, he said it is worth it to connect with people.

Track and field head coach Michael Ford never imagined being a coach, now he’s the head coach of Baylor track & field and the third Black head coach in Baylor athletics history.

As a Latina, moving to a new country for college has expanded my panorama of diversity and has allowed me to reach the conclusion that race representation matters both in the media and in real life.

No matter how much we ignore it, these things happened, and racism is very much alive in America. Recognizing their impact and how we can do better is essential to efforts for equality. If we ever want to move forward, we have to look backward first.

Baylor’s Concerto Competition is an annual gathering of the best and brightest musicians Baylor has to offer. The winner of this year’s competition was Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy graduate Cezary Karwowski, 23, from Łódź, Poland. Karwowski’s winning concerto performance was Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor by Frederic Chopin.
