In partnership with Waco Habitat for Humanity, Amy’s Attic will host its first “Cars for a Cause” event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at 1821 South New Road. The event will include a car show along with local food trucks and vendors, raising funds for the humanitarian efforts of Habitat for Humanity.

Open every day in October from 10 a.m. to dusk, the pumpkin patch welcomes visitors and families of all ages to take pictures and purchase pumpkins for decoration or carving. The pumpkin patch also hosts field trips for school groups and daycares, where children listen to a pumpkin story, go on a scavenger hunt and learn how pumpkins grow.
In 1987, Baylor began the first college Habitat for Humanity chapter. During COVID-19, the chapter’s impact was stunted for two years, however this year the volunteers were able to engage with the community and assist in building houses around Waco.
“It was already difficult for low-income families to find affordable housing, and in the last couple of years, housing costs have skyrocketed,” Alexander said. “The cost of building, property taxes, insurance — all of that has gone up, which affects the rental payments that people are paying, so the options for affordable housing are limited.”
Hammers, nails and electric saws sounded as nearly 30 Habitat for Humanity volunteers and community leaders gathered for the first Harvest House Wall Raising Saturday morning at 408 Boyd Lane in Waco.
Baylor’s Theta Nu chapter of Alpha Tau Omega has been recognized as one of the top four fraternity chapters in North America this year.
Students and members of the Waco community will have the opportunity to help finish building two local houses during the Second Annual Spring Break Build by Baylor’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Baylor has more than 15 official student organizations dedicated specifically to service, numerous fraternities and sororities that require members to volunteer, and various other opportunities for students to get out into the community and lend a helping hand. However, not all students choose to actively volunteer in the community.
Interested in volunteering with Baylor Habitat for Humanity? Come to the interest meeting at 6 p.m. today in Bennett Auditorium. There will be a spring break build from Saturday to March 12 — sign-ups for four-hour shifts will be at the meeting.
Baylor Habit for Humanity will host Hangin’ with Habitaters from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fountain Mall. Join Habitat members and learn more about the organization. There will be games and prizes, refreshments and crafts.
