For the final time, No. 9 Baylor men’s basketball moseyed to Austin to take on Texas as Big 12 rivals. In a tight contest that came down to the last second, Longhorns junior guard Tyrese Hunter raced to the cup and stunned the Bears at the buzzer, lifting Texas to a 75-73 win on Saturday afternoon in the Moody Center.
The Foster Pavilion has officially opened, and the energy from fans in the new arena has been electric. The Baylor Bear Pit, which consists of cheering students, has been at the forefront of it all for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Women's Basketball
The Bears win at home against Lamar 88-50 on Monday at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears scored 52 points in the paint to dominate the Bearcats Thursday evening in the Ferrell Center.
No. 18 Baylor women’s basketball head coach Nicki Collen is still trying to figure her team out and what lineups work ahead of the team’s season opener.
Equestrian
The No. 2 Baylor equestrian team came out of the Fresno State Invitational with a loss to 1-1 advancing its record to 8-3. The Bears had a close match Friday against Fresno State, but ended with a score of 8-7. On Saturday, the Bears came back with a vengeance to beat SMU 13-3 in Fresno, Calif.
Shayla Kelley’s gymnastic meets always ended differently than other children’s.
“My mom had to leave my meets before awards because people would swarm to get her autograph or take pictures with her,” said Kelley, a freshman acrobatics and tumbling team member.

Women’s tennis will play against Iowa State in the semifinal after a 4-1 win over TCU.
Fifth-year tennis senior Constantin Frantzen has blazed his way into Baylor history, breaking the doubles wins record and looking to lead the Bears to another Big 12 title.
Baylor men’s tennis couldn’t get a third win over the Longhorns, dropping the dual match by three points on Thursday.
Golf
The Baylor men’s golf team finished second at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C., on Sunday.
Women’s golf won the Dick McGuire Invitational by four strokes this past weekend in Albuquerque, N.M.
Baylor fans have plenty to follow this weekend as several teams are in action: men’s tennis will be home Friday, Saturday and Sunday for their season opener in the HEB Invitational, women’s cross country competes Friday at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster meet in Toledo, Ohio, and on Sunday and Monday, women’s golf will be at the Dick Maguire Invitational tournament in Albuquerque, N.M.
