The Bears went 1-2 at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series this weekend, beating Ohio State and losing to No. 8 Oregon State and No. 25 Auburn.
Baylor track and field gained momentum at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lubbock on Saturday, highlighted by senior sprinter Nathaniel Ezekiel breaking his own school record in the 400 meters and helping the Bears win the 4×400 relay. Graduate student sprinter Alexis Brown and junior sprinter Tiriah Kelley secured two podium finishes, leading the women’s team to an enthusiastic third-place overall finish with 64 points.
Unable to overcome their worst shooting night of the season at 27.7% from the floor, the Bears lost the top spot in the Big 12 and saw their nine-game winning streak snapped in a 51-48 loss to the 10th-ranked Horned Frogs on Sunday evening.
After a pitchers’ duel throughout the championship game of the Baylor Invitational, Cal Baptist knocked a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Baylor softball 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark.

Men's Basketball
Amidst a flurry of foul trouble and despite a career night from freshman guard Robert O. Wright III, No. 15 Baylor lost its Big 12-Big East Challenge game against No. 25 UConn, 76-72, Wednesday night at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
No. 15 Baylor is catching No. 25 UConn at the right time. After heading into the Maui Invitational as a presumed Final Four contender, the Huskies became just the fourth AP top-two team to lose three straight games in the AP poll era, all to unranked opponents.

Women's Basketball
Rooted in an underdog mentality, it was seemingly No. 5 seed Baylor women’s basketball versus the world. Despite trailing by six at halftime, the Bears hit seven of their next nine shots and had No. 1 seed USC on the ropes. However, Baylor missed its first eight shots in the fourth quarter, which allowed the Trojans to stomp back and end the Bears’ run in the Sweet 16 by a score of 74-70 on Saturday at the Moda Center.
“I feel like there’s no pressure on us,” senior guard Sarah Andrews said. “The pressure is on the other team. We’re the underdogs. We have nothing to lose, but we have a lot to gain.”
Following the second-best start to a season in program history (14-0 start through Jan. 6), No. 5 seed Baylor women’s basketball hit turbulence.. Through a cold streak in which they lost six of their next 10 games, the team stayed positive and rallied back to find itself in the Sweet 16 for the first time under head coach Nicki Collen. Now, the Bears will clash with No. 1 seed USC at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Moda Center.

Tennis
No. 6 seed Baylor women’s tennis advanced past the first round of the Big 12 Championships with a 4-2 victory over No. 11 seed West Virginia on Wednesday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.

Baylor women’s tennis knew it had an uphill battle after dropping the doubles point to SMU. The Bears found the rally they needed, as a flurry of singles wins — capped off by graduate student Isabella Harvison’s victory on court three — propelled them to a 4-2 victory over the Mustangs on Tuesday night in the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Golf
Until now, only Baylor men’s golf had athletes make the cut for the Arnold Palmer Cup. This changes now that women’s fifth-year senior golfer Gurleen Kaur will accompany men’s athlete junior Johnny Keefer.
The Bears were seventh out of a 10-team field, with the University of Oklahoma taking home the title.
Baylor women’s golf had a Big 12 title in their grasp, but faced unlucky conditions and settled to a second place tie.
