Tuesday night, Republican Donis “D.L.” Wilson won McLennan County Commissioner in a head-to-head race against Democrat Jeremy Davis.
“This campaign really became a calling from God,” Curry said.
Republican incumbent Christi Craddick won the Railroad Commissioner race for a third straight term on Tuesday night. She took nearly 60% of the votes compared to the other four candidates.
Democrat Barry Johnson — who switched parties on the day of filing for candidacy — conceded to incumbent republican Thomas West around 10:30 p.m. With 55% of voters reporting, Johnson was behind 32% to 67%, a 35-point deficit.
Upon victory, Maynard said that he looks forward to serving the 5.5 million students in District 10 for another term.
Money and debate chops weren’t enough to unseat Cruz. Bradford Holland, the immediate past chair of the McLennan County Republican Party, said the win means that Texans held fast against “outside-of-Texas money” and have shown the state to be “solidly red.”
In the already unprecedented 2024 election, early voting numbers are yet another factor causing chaos as the race comes to a head. With far fewer overall early voters but far more in-person early votes, the 2024 election continues to surprise voters.
“It’s really important to do stuff like this,” Hankins said. “This is a good platform for us to show Jesus to others, especially to the kids that might not have the opportunity to get toys on Christmas.”
“We don’t need to worry about what’s going to happen to our democracy, because the end of all things is the reign of God over all people and over this land,” Baksa said. “That’s what we have to look forward to — not the victory of one candidate or another.”
It is unknown when the elevators might be back up. Until then, students who need it are encouraged to use the elevator in Jones Library to navigate between the first and second floors. The garden level and third floor of the Library will not be ADA-accessible until elevators are fixed.
Baylor’s 2025 United Way Campaign celebrates 100 years of United Way of Waco-McLennan County giving back to the McLennan County community. To celebrate and honor this accomplishment, the name for Baylor’s campaign this year is “100 for 100!” and the goal is to raise $100,000 among the Baylor community.
“It is so easy to get trapped inside the ‘Baylor Bubble,’” Roehm said. “I have so many stories of site owners who are beyond grateful for Baylor students coming and doing the things that they are no longer able to do, such as the elderly who can no longer do yard work anymore.”

BearAid, which is housed under the department of Missions, Service and Public Life, hosted a relief kit packing event for those impacted by the recent Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Students were able to pack kits from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday outside of the Bobo Spiritual Life Center.
“We just want to take care of the family in that moment and then remove ourselves, so the family can grieve,” Discreet Clean owner and Baylor alumna Lance Summey said. “We don’t necessarily need people to see what we see on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis. That’s not why we do what we do.”
As for how the relationship between an SI Leader and their students differs from that of a professor-student relationship, Mishra said that her role is to be more like the students’ friend and to keep the environment as lighthearted and fun as possible.

With a high of 64% female population in 2021, the university has been experiencing an incremental decline to create a more evenly spread student population.
“With the the images of Austin Avenue, it made Waco realize that Austin Avenue has so much great potential and because it was the main thoroughfare in the city of Waco at one time, it could be that again,” Hunt said.
“It started when I was about 9 years old,” Little said. “I was one of those nerdy little kids who spent her lunchtime in the library reading real ghost stories.”
“Occasionally eating a high amount of candy has not been shown to cause’ long-term effects, but it can definitely have short-term effects if the person is prone to hyperglycemia,” Taylor said. “On the other hand, eating an excessive amount of sugar over the long term can have detrimental effects.”
“We don’t want to see any individual in our community harmed by this form of abuse,” Willis said. “If you see anything that’s unhealthy, we want you to be able to recognize it and have strategies to either intervene yourself or report anonymously.”
Childers spent 26 years working in government law enforcement, 18 of which were with the US Secret Service. After eight years as a US Marshal, Childers took up various roles in the Service. He spent time on President George W Bush’s detail, investigated white-collar crimes in Washington, D.C., and supervised President Bush’s ranch in Crawford. And just before joining Baylor, Childers was prepared to accept another new position.
“Student staff do not have carte-blanche access to every space in a residence hall,” Engblom said. “The average CL or faculty member couldn’t just swipe into every single room. We don’t grant [access] to everybody.”
