Oftentimes, required classes may seem unnecessary and unhelpful in our everyday lives. However, each one has been chosen to further our education and our perspectives at Baylor. Classes that should be added to this list are those emphasizing cultural conversations. This could include English classes that focus on multicultural literature, history classes that examine a certain ethnic group, medical humanities classes that discuss race in medicine and so many more.

The bridge between art and science grew smaller for the medical humanities program on Thursday.
The DeBakey Medical Foundation gave $500,000 to Baylor to increase the Michael E. DeBakey, Selma DeBakey, and Lois DeBakey Endowed Scholarship Fund for Medical Humanities majors. The gift brings the total amount that has been donated to the fund to one million dollard. The ceremony was held on the second floor atrium in the Baylor Sciences Building. It featured speakers from the DeBakey Medical Foundation, Baylor faculty and five scholarship recipients.
This semester Baylor has added a new course to the curriculum for Medical Humanities majors and minors. The course, Medical Humanities 3300: Visual Arts and Healing, is focused on the study of healing through art techniques that will fine tune and enhance motor skills.
