The tortured artist takes the stage for this week’s Tunesday. If you’re experiencing loss of love this week, tune in for some resonance with these somber artists and perhaps a good cry. Hopefully next week is a bit cheerier, but for now, these sad songs kind of slap.

Starting his career in 2015 with the release of “Bcos U Will Never Be Free”, O’Connor set a new standard for the indie music community, creating a new genre known as “bedroom pop.” His music creates a narrative for teenage boys — talking about hard-to-discuss topics like love, depression and loss.

Grief does not have to look like a bear going into hibernation for the winter or like a car crashing in slow motion — scenes in which an individual gradually self-destructs. It can, instead, manifest itself in numerous positive ways.

If you are grieving and struggling to process, don’t seclude yourself. Let others in. Help yourself unpack the events that have happened, whether they occurred years ago or recently. Let the calm after the storm come.

“We always kind of talk about how you have to go down before you go up,” Aranda said. “It’s easier to talk about than to go through that. But that’s where we’re at. I just feel like the character of the coaches and our players and just the integrity of it all, for sure, is going to be tested because it’s tough and you’re inviting a bunch of hate. But we have the makings of a good team.”
