Are you in touch with your wild side? Animal lovers can now show support for their favorite inhabitants of Waco’s Cameron Park Zoo, thanks to the zoo’s recently revamped “Adopt an animal” program.
Many people typically wouldn’t pair the words Snickers and fuzzy together. However, the Snickers found at Cameron Park Zoo isn’t a furry candy bar – it’s a tiny baby ring-tailed lemur, born March 18. The baby has been out for the public to see as of Saturday, clinging to his mother’s tummy.
Trick or treating turns to the wild side as children and their parents are invited to attend Cameron Park Zoo’s annual Zoo Boo.
Zoo Boo is an event for children from two to 12 years of age. Zoo Boo takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Halloween night only.

The animals at Cameron Park Zoo weren’t the only ones going wild on Saturday. Continuing its yearlong celebration of “20 Wild Years,” the zoo hosted NBC’s “The Voice” top six contender and Baylor student Holly Tucker in concert at its Brazos River Country attraction.
Though this event was not the only celebration the zoo is having this year, the concert was the first they have ever hosted in hopes to do more in the future.
The National Zoo might have a baby panda, but Cameron Park Zoo has Aztec, the miracle baby ocelot.
Aztec was born on May 31 at Cameron Park Zoo, and is considered a miracle baby because of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding his birth.
Cameron Park zookeeper John Abernathy said part of the reason Aztec was a miracle was because his mother Maya was so old when she had her first child.
For some people, volunteering your time can mean volunteering your profession. Dianne Sawyer, a medical consultant at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and a retired OBGYN, volunteers at Cameron Park Zoo once a week.
