It can be easy to forget faculty and staff have lives outside of Baylor. However, they enjoy doing many of the same activities that students do, and they are far more human than they may initially seem.

“Autism affects individuals differently. What this rising statistic does illustrate is the pressing needs of this population regarding research, assessment and individualized interventions,” Dr. Kristen Padilla, director of Baylor’s center for developmental disabilities, said.
Having started teaching at Baylor in the fall of 1986, Parsons is the longest-serving professor in the religion department. Feeling a call to ministry as early as his sophomore year of high school, he majored in both religion and philosophy at Campbell University, which went on to cultivate his passion for Christian scholarship.
