The Flutie Foundation, along with Pi Kappa Phi, hosted a 5K on campus in support of individuals with autism. The 5K served as a charity fundraiser for Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropy and included a diverse population of participants.

“Autism affects individuals differently. What this rising statistic does illustrate is the pressing needs of this population regarding research, assessment and individualized interventions,” Dr. Kristen Padilla, director of Baylor’s center for developmental disabilities, said.
The clinic involves both research and practice, and new changes are targeted toward growth in its practical use. Located on the second floor of Cashion Academic Center, the clinic includes sensory focused spaces, feeding areas, labs and classrooms.
Caregiver Coaching is a program offered by the Baylor Department of Educational Psychology in the School of Education to provide research-based parent training through a team of well-trained coaches.

Vaccinations are an important aspect of a child’s health, but broader than that, they are an important aspect of public health. Knowing this, it seems ridiculous that people would even fathom not vaccinating their children. Unfortunately from the creation of the first vaccine until now, the mindset of not vaccinating children has persisted. Vaccines prevent diseases and make the world a much safer place. The fact that they do not cause autism is just the cherry on top. To spell that out clearly, vaccinations do not cause autism.
At the start of National Autism Awareness month Tuesday, the university and McLane Children’s Hospital Scott and White announced their new partnership with an opening ceremony at the Baylor University Center for Developmental Disabilities on MacArthur Drive.
First Lady Alice Starr kicked off the sixth annual Walk for Autism on Fountain Mall on Sunday by announcing a partnership between Baylor and Scott and White Healthcare.
The partnership would create a diagnostic clinic dedicated to recognizing the onset of intellectual disabilities.
Through the continued partnership of the Heart of Texas Autism Network and members of the Baylor community, the sixth annual Walk for Autism will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on Fountain Mall.
The Heart of Texas Autism Network is a non-profit organization established six years ago by a Waco support group for parents with children who have autism spectrum disorders.
The network has worked closely with Baylor, specifically the Baylor Autism Resource Center, since its formation.
In honor of National Bullying Awareness month, which takes place in October, the Baylor Autism Resource Center has focused on bullying in this month’s parent workshops.
The Autism Resource Center is located in 206 Draper Academic Building.
