After 68 years of Aramark Dining Services within the Baylor dining halls, a big change came. On June 1, Cartwheel Higher Education Dining Services took over as the new leader in food service management on campus.

Students could learn practical skills, make some spending money and even help lower the costs of the university. Now, just because it would lower the operating costs of the university doesn’t mean it would be reflected in a tuition drop — especially when you remember the sentiments in Vedder’s article.
“I think if we’re doing our jobs right, the impact is not even noticed by the folks on campus,” Burnias said. “You know, our mission is to maximize the student experience on campus. We don’t see our mission as doing cleaning or maintenance or grounds. It’s to maximize the student experience on campus.”

The future closure of Collins Dining Hall is part of a greater plan to improve dining experiences on Baylor campus.
“Collins is closing because it allows us to better manage the rising costs associated with providing high-quality dining on campus,” said Dr. Kevin Jackson, vice president for student life.
Her booming voice can be heard all the way across Collins’ dining hall. She always wears her hair in a ponytail and greets students she knows with a friendly hug and a kiss on the cheek. Unafraid to speak her mind, students count on this woman for her honest opinion. She influences students’ choices inside the cafeteria and out.
Aramark presented a check for $3,000 to the Campus Kitchen Community Garden on Wednesday morning. The completely organic and self-sustainable garden is used to grow produce to donate to programs that feed the needy.

The residence halls are competing in an energy conservation tournament that began on March 21 and ends May 1.
Baylor dining halls provide a wide variety of choices for faculty and students each day, and with the food service provider, Aramark, Baylor has been able to increase the amount of healthy options and quality meals in the dining halls.
