Baylor announced Thursday that Dr. Jon Singletary, dean of the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work, will step down effective October 15. According to Provost Nancy Brickhouse, Singletary plans to return to the faculty to “focus on interdisciplinary research.”

“We want to briefly explore the history, causes, consequences and responses to political violence in the U.S.,” Villegas said, overviewing the panel’s discussion. “We want to role model and promote critical thinking, civil discourse and shared understanding. And lastly, we want to provide trusted expert insight, clear historical context and tools for informed civic engagement so that we can positively address the matter.”

Baylor was recognized by the Great Colleges to Work For program as an Honor Roll institution Friday. The acknowledgment is awarded by an institutional questionnaire that captures employment data, workplace policies and a survey administered to faculty and staff. Additionally, the primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.

The Trump administration and China appear to finally have a deal to keep the platform live for U.S. users, though. Under the agreement, a group of U.S.-backed investors will own the majority of the company and TikTok’s algorithm will be retrained, with the deal expected to be approved through an executive order.

The Real Estate Network, founded last year by San Clemente, Calif., senior Alec Grace and his older brother, is quickly gaining popularity among students pursuing commercial real estate.

Baylor’s Homecoming Parade is one of the university’s oldest and most beloved traditions. Every year, thousands of students, alumni and families line the streets of Waco to cheer on the floats that pass by. But behind the finished products lie months of hard work and dedication that many never see.

The Memorial, which was recommended by the Commission on Historical Campus Representations in 2020, addresses Baylor’s historical relationship with slavery. It recognizes the university’s construction through enslaved labor and Judge R.E.B. Baylor’s own possession of enslaved people, while continuing to acknowledge all parts of Baylor’s story.

These reboots don’t bring the same charm. Instead, they rely on viewers’ nostalgia while struggling to stand on their own. While it’s fun to see old characters, nostalgia can only carry a show so far. Without strong writing and fresh storytelling, these reboots feel like imitations rather than meaningful continuations.

Since the start of his second term, President Donald Trump has been not-so-subtly expressing his desire to annex Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, though he first hinted at this in 2019. Initially, it almost seemed like a joke, but it quickly became serious when the administration began to send envoys of ambassadors to the chilly island this year.

These stereotypes can be harmful as well as inaccurate. It’s all fun and games until we start taking these stereotypes for fact. The idea that we might perceive someone as nice or mean, smart or dumb, generous or stingy is completely unfair to that person, especially when we project these assumptions to other people, adding to the stereotyping.

Some people have had a contract signed since August, while the rest of the pack cowers in the shadows, scared to admit they have no idea. I am here to tell you that if you still do not have a plan, you are not alone. It may feel like the end of the world, but here’s why it is not.

When I see laws added or removed for monetary gain that completely ignore the immensely negative impact they will have on Earth, I am left bewildered. I cannot help but think of the countless passages in the Bible commanding us to do the opposite.
