Waco Downtown Farmers Market | Jan. 29 | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | 500 Washington Ave | This weekly event hosts local vendors, artisans and craftsmen in the heart of downtown Waco, accompanied by live music.

Art a la Carte | until March 11 | Art Center Waco, 701 S 8th Street | This collective art exhibition features works of a wide range of variety from 17 Central Texas artists.

“Sometimes people need to get away from their lives,” Braziel said. “Sometimes they need to not focus on [themselves] for a little bit. I mean, that’s why we watch movies; that’s why we pick up a good book. The only difference between that and live theater is that it’s live. You’re experiencing energy that’s on stage directly in front of you instead of on the screen.”

“Amélie” is a musical based on the 2001 French-language film of the same name. The musical follows Amelie, a shy and sheltered girl living in Paris, as she begins to forge connections with people for the first time in her life. She begins helping various people and along the way, falls in love for the first time.

By having Student Productions partner with Baylor Chamber of Commerce and Taste of Waco to hype up the excitement, After Dark makes history selling out both shows in Waco Hall.
