Whether you’ve already had your midterms and need to wind down, or need to work in a study break into a long week of studying, Waco has plenty to offer in terms of recreational activities. Support the Baylor Theatre by attending their production of “Little Women,” or venture into downtown for Out on the Brazos or the farmers market Diwali Festival.

While many may be heading out of town for Fall Break, there is still plenty to do in Waco for those who choose to hang around. Whether you’re down for a haunted kayaking escapade or a chill day with the sloths at Cameron Park Zoo, there’s something for everyone this weekend.

In its 173 years of history, Baylor appointed Dr. Linda Livingstone as the first female president of the university in 2017. At the time, Livingstone didn’t want her gender to matter as much as her qualifications. But she found that as a woman, leading the university out of an infamous scandal meant more to her community than she’d realized.

This weekend in Waco offers a smorgasbord of events to attend, from book sales to holiday plays. Thanksgiving break isn’t far away and neither are finals. Grab a friend and use these activities as a brain break!

“Events like these, like we’ve been doing with Levitt, and the farmer’s market, the whole point is to truly bring [Waco’s] mission to life… which is to bridge communities, to showcase artistry, talent, bring in talent, and then at the same time, create a space where everybody can connect,” Linares said.

The only thing better than finding crêpes, freshly squeezed juices and homemade beauty products in the same place is finding all of the above — and more — between classes at an on-campus farmers market.

The Baylor Sustainability Office will host the second annual on-campus farmers market from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in Vera Martin Daniel Plaza, next to the Bill Daniel Student Center.

Ripe produce, freshly made food and eco-friendly organizations. The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is coming to campus.

The farmers market will bring some of its vendors to campus from 3 to 6 p.m. today. The vendors will be in Traditions Plaza between the Bill Daniel Student Center and Carroll Science Hall. Environmentally-conscious organizations from both Baylor and the Waco community will also have booths on campus at this time.
