“We really wanted to create a Lunar New Year celebration here in Waco because we want to see more cultural festivals and be able to share more Asian heritage,” Chen said.

The free farmers market on Baylor’s campus aims to fight food insecurity and give students a chance to learn tips and tricks while in the kitchen.
The farmers market provides free produce and other goods to students. It started in 2017 to bring awareness on campus to students who live with food insecurities.
“Events like these, like we’ve been doing with Levitt, and the farmer’s market, the whole point is to truly bring [Waco’s] mission to life… which is to bridge communities, to showcase artistry, talent, bring in talent, and then at the same time, create a space where everybody can connect,” Linares said.
Baylor students looking forward to fresh, local grocery shopping on campus will have to wait a semester. The upcoming farmers market event scheduled for Friday has been canceled from complications with obtaining the proper permits for participating vendors.
The only thing better than finding crêpes, freshly squeezed juices and homemade beauty products in the same place is finding all of the above — and more — between classes at an on-campus farmers market.
The Baylor Sustainability Office will host the second annual on-campus farmers market from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in Vera Martin Daniel Plaza, next to the Bill Daniel Student Center.

The farmers market will bring some of its vendors to campus from 3 to 6 p.m. today. The vendors will be in Traditions Plaza between the Bill Daniel Student Center and Carroll Science Hall. Environmentally-conscious organizations from both Baylor and the Waco community will also have booths on campus at this time.
