The fair is finally back and a famous alumni comedian is swinging through town for a show to remember! Spend your weekend walking the grounds, watching bucking broncos, listening to live country music and riding the carnival rides.

With tradition, community and spectacle woven together, the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo remains one of Waco’s biggest fall attractions. Whether it’s the thrill of bull riding, the rhythm of live music or the comfort of fair food, the event continues to draw crowds — and students — year after year.

All-University Sing is certainly the center of attention for Baylor folk this weekend, but what about what’s happening outside the Bubble? If you weren’t able to get opening weekend tickets for this treasured showcase, here are some Waco happenings to keep you entertained.

This week’s What to Do in Waco might not be as saturated as the last, but don’t let the post-homecoming blues get the best of you. With only a few weeks to go until Thanksgiving, Waco is beginning to buzz with holiday activities.

The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, held at the Extraco Events Center from October 3-13, is an annual non-profit fair that gathers roughly 200,000 fairgoers per year. It also gathers multitudes of animals, varying from sheep to sea lions.

The Atkins Tent Revival & SUNNN | April 29 | 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. | Bridge Street Plaza, 200 E Bridge St. | As part of the 2023 Levitt AMP Waco Music Series, The Atkins Tent Revival and SUNNN, a band of Baylor students, will bring a splash of sound to Bridge Street.

Deep in the Heart Film Festival | March 31 | 7 p.m. | See passion projects, short films and more from young, aspiring filmmakers to seasoned professionals, all from here in Waco.

After 20 years of sharing news, telling corny jokes and providing McLennan County with a wide variety of country music, local disc jockeys of Waco 100 country radio station Zack Owen and Jim Cody are throwing a party to tell their listeners “thank you” for all the years of tuning in.

Zack & Jim’s 20th Anniversary Blowout will take place at 6 p.m. this Saturday at the Extraco Events Center, featuring a concert including A-list country stars Easton Corbin and Dustin Lynch. The event is free and open to everyone, and floor seats to the concert are $6.

Thursday was the 49th annual kick-off of the Waco-McLennan County Library book sale at the Extraco Events Center Waco and book lovers are thrilled for the opportunity to peruse more than 110,000 books, DVDs, videos, CDs and more.

There is no better way to kick off a Texas hot summer than with the best salsa, guacamole and queso that Central Texas restaurants, vendors, and residents have to offer. The 16th annual Margarita & Salsa Festival, held Saturday at the Extraco Events Center, brought in more than 9,400 cowboy-boot clad visitors looking for a spicy bite, a quality country concert and a cool beverage to bring it all together.
