Snowfall in central Texas is far in few between, but this year’s Christmas on 5th celebration was the perfect winter wonderland.
“Even before the light dawns, he is on his way,” Moore said. “He hears you in the darkness. You just keep making a sound, and you’re safe. You’re safe. You’re going to be fine because he is on his way.”
“At the end of the day, Christmas is about coming together and being grateful for our friends and family,” Edara said. “I think it’s genuinely just an expression of love and affection between people [through] the season of giving and holidays.”
“This year, we’re taking it a step further with special effects, adding even more excitement to the event,” Edara said. “We’re also thrilled to bring snow to Christmas on Fifth this year, adding an extra layer of holiday magic.”
Two days before the main performance, students will get a sneak peek of what they’ll see by watching Bear Ballet perform excerpts of the dances at Christmas on Fifth Street.
The night before the Homecoming parade, Baylor prefaced their event with a post on X revealing the winning floats. While there is an element of competition to the floats, these float chairs agree that for them, the homecoming parade which is the longest-standing in the nation’s history goes beyond obtaining a ranking.

Trish Baum, program manager for resources for the Center for Academic Success and Engagement, and Doug Baum, former Cameron Park zookeeper, have brought animals to Christmas on Fifth for close to 20 years. Doug Baum said the animals give people a window into rural American life while creating a visual representation of the story of the birth of Jesus.
Throughout November and December, both Baylor and the City of Waco hold a variety of events to celebrate the holiday season.

Baylor’s campus will be full of Christmas cheer Thursday at the annual celebration of Christmas on Fifth Street, starting at 6 p.m. at Fountain Mall, Burleson Quadrangle, Traditions Plaza and the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The event will have entertainment for the whole family, such as a petting zoo, pictures with Santa, carriage rides, family portraits, a live nativity and “Elf,” a Christmas movie, showing on the lawn.
Students and members of the Waco community will have the opportunity to help finish building two local houses during the Second Annual Spring Break Build by Baylor’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

For the second year in a row, Christmas on 5th Street will feature a rising new tradition, “New Anthems for an Old Story” — a musical Advent service to celebrate the season and the coming of a King.
Deck the quadrangle with songs of Holly (Tucker); ’tis the season to take a carriage ride and be jolly. Don we now our 5th Street apparel; troll the Baylor language department’s carol. Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Many Baylor alumni will have an opportunity to see new structural campus changes that have taken place over the past year for the first time this weekend.
It’s one of the most important lessons I’ve learned so far in college — to put down my books, step back from my studies and realize that there is so much more to college than its academic aspect; there is so much living to be done in these four years.
