Senior guard Jada Walker inspired the charge with a game-leading 24 points as the green and gold fell to Oregon, 76-74, on Sunday night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene.

Two former Southwest Conference powers will face off in Dallas at 6:30 p.m on Saturday, with No. 8 Baylor (0-1) and No. 16 Arkansas (1-0) set to square off at American Airlines Center.

It’s been 233 days since No. 20 Baylor men’s basketball last took the court on national television, but the wait is over. Hoops season is here, and the Bears will tip off the 2023-2024 season against Auburn in a neutral-site clash at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Tuesday night.
After reloading in 2022, head coach Scott Drew was forced to restock in Waco in hopes of fielding a national championship contender. He did that over the offseason and brought in another nationally top-15 recruiting class alongside potential impact transfers. No. 2 seeded Baylor women’s basketball let loose in the second half to beat No. 15 seeded University of Hawaii at Manoa 89-49 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon at the Ferrell Center.
NaLyssa Smith, widely considered the No. 1 pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, has done everything imaginable at Baylor, from winning championships to breaking records. While the 6-foot-4-inch forward from Converse is excited for the future, Smith’s focus is on having fun and enjoying the moment as well as what she’s been able to do as a Bear.
With three new transfer guards, James Akinjo, Jordan Lewis and Ja’Mee Asberry, have stepped up to help Baylor further excel their basketball program.
Equestrian
Shayla Kelley’s gymnastic meets always ended differently than other children’s.
“My mom had to leave my meets before awards because people would swarm to get her autograph or take pictures with her,” said Kelley, a freshman acrobatics and tumbling team member.

The acrobatics and tumbling team lost 280.2-274.38 to Oregon in their season opener on Thursday at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore. The Bears finished 5.82 points behind Oregon, the three-time reining NCATA National Champions.
“This meet was a great start to our season and will be a good stepping-stone to get better and better,” head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams said.
Tennis
Baylor men’s tennis couldn’t get a third win over the Longhorns, dropping the dual match by three points on Thursday.
The fifth-year senior is the April 14 Spotlight Athlete after setting a new record for doubles wins.
The Bears only dropped one point through two matches Saturday.
Golf
Baylor women’s golf team won its second straight tournament Wednesday at the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., and senior Jaclyn Jansen tied for the individual title and her second career victory.
The Baylor men’s golf team finished second at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C., on Sunday.
Women’s golf won the Dick McGuire Invitational by four strokes this past weekend in Albuquerque, N.M.

In the 2023 season, Major League Baseball officials added the pitch clock to aid the speed of the game. After the season and now into 2024, I’ve seen that the pitch clock has been very useful and has accelerated the pace of the game.
