Incoming freshmen were exposed firsthand to Baylor traditions and Waco culture at the 2026 A Waco Welcome on Wednesday and Thursday at the Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center.
Cars lined the streets on Thursday as students arrived at the newly renovated Kokernot Hall for Move2BU. The all-women first-year community reopened this fall after a yearlong renovation and welcomed roughly 160 students.
For incoming Bears, the first week at Baylor is about more than unpacking boxes. From worship and traditions to new friendships and mentorship, Welcome Week is designed to help students find their place in the Baylor community.
In July, residents began moving into the newly renovated, nearly 80-year-old Kokernot Hall, which houses about 160 freshman women per year. From new bathrooms and common spaces to sidewalks and landscaping, the entire lot on the southwest corner of campus has been refreshed.
Pati Milligan spent 37 years in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business, where colleagues remembered her as a dedicated teacher and mentor who helped shape the university’s information systems program.

Baylor’s offense was on and off in junior quarterback DJ Lagway’s return in the Bears’ 23-13 win over Colorado. The lack of consistency on offense left Baylor fans with more questions about the offense than before.
The first conference game of the year was a thriller as the Bears threatened to reverse sweep but fell short in front of a rocking BYU crowd.
Junior midfielder Noelle Sather, who just came back from the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup, delivered the game-winner for No. 11 Baylor in its 2-1 win over Oklahoma State on senior night.

While political leaders frame the population change as evidence of successful policy, they ignore the broader changes happening. The fading image of the American Dream is a direct result of shifts within the nation itself; changes that directly affect, or will affect, your household.
Being your childhood self doesn’t make you immature or unlikeable — quite the opposite. It makes you unique, one of a kind and someone worth knowing.
Life, conflict and growth are uncomfortable. When every uneasy emotion becomes a diagnosis, we lose resilience. Instead of asking, “Why do I feel this way?” we ask, “What do I have?” The question shifts from reflection to labeling.
Since I started using film cameras, I found out I wasn’t taking pictures of moments; rather, the moment was the photo. While my professional camera is nice, its goal is to capture what I am seeing as perfectly as possible. When my film camera comes out, people drop everything to create the photo.
Whether it be for widespread social and political change or for something as simple as putting together a successful Sing act, organized group action begins with character at the individual scale. This truth begs the question: What does it mean to be a villager?
Gaming culture has become too toxic and has reached a point where it is affecting people’s livelihoods. Nothing has made this toxicity more apparent than what happened recently with the game Highguard.
