What once felt like home, students describe as distant and constrained after returning from studying abroad. Students said adjusting to life back on campus was more challenging than expected, with many experiencing reverse culture shock.
“Generally, tariffs are considered to be negative for economic well-being,” Davidson said. “So initially, stock markets around the world sank following the imposition of the Liberation Day tariffs. However, since then, the U.S. stock market has rebounded dramatically.”
Waco doctoral candidate and fourth-year graduate student Carol Raymond said she started working toward a doctorate in school psychology to make the “greatest positive change possible.”
“A lot of people assume that we are a princess club that goes to hospitals, but we do a lot more,” Dorris said. “There’s so many different demographics that we serve. Whoever needs us, we try to go.”
Waking up to Canvas being down was a pleasant or unwelcome surprise that many students and faculty at Baylor encountered on Oct. 20. The Amazon Web Services outage disrupted students’ and faculty members’ day-to-day lives, revealing just how reliant the university is on web services such as Canvas.

ARTS & LIFE
Halloween is just around the corner with some spooky fun, and more events are coming November when it’s done. For the fear- and fall-focused alike, here are some upcoming events in Waco.
Like any and all heritage months, Women’s History Month gets the same criticism. People often express the idea that Women’s History Month excludes men, but it’s time we realized that this month is for all of us — an opportunity to reflect on our history and grow from it together.
My heart shattered when I read the news about Laken Riley. Her murder was the first homicide on the University of Georgia campus in almost 30 years, and it should serve as a humbling reminder that it can happen anywhere. The twists and turns of Cameron Park and the Bear Trail are certainly not much different terrain.
The show itself is only the tip of the iceberg. What it took to get to the top of that mountain is the real story — and the one that nobody sees. If you do it right, your soul is connected to your act in the end, and it should be.
I can say from having just a semester and a half under my belt that morning classes are where it’s at. Not only are you finished by lunchtime, but you have the rest of the day at your disposal to do whatever your heart desires.
There’s only so much preparation a student can do to help their experience with the process. Perhaps it’s time to give registration itself some attention. After all, what’s the harm in adding a handful of seats to classes and giving upperclassmen first dibs on Bearweb?
College students don’t always have it easy, and there’s a good chance that not every day will go perfectly. Taking the time in the morning to look and feel nice is worth it — because even if your day is full of challenges, at least you looked prepared.
