“Serving as president and carrying on from those before me is a distinct honor and privilege,” Haines said. “Particularly because as I have looked at the list of presidents, there are many that I have known and have been friends with, never imagining that I would ever become president of such an esteemed organization.”

Welcome back, Bears! Whether you spent your spring break skiing in the snowy mountains, sprawled out on sunny, sandy shores or right here in Waco, here are some new songs to help you get back in the swing of things on campus.

This year marks the 31st celebration of the Beall Poetry Festival. Baylor will host three prominent poets: Carl Phillips, Victoria Chang and Christian Wiman — each of whom will provide insight and commentary on their work. Their readings and discussions will give attendees the chance to dive deeper into different forms and aspects of poetry.

During times of economic frustration, political change and visible controversy surrounding issues such as the rights of gays and lesbians, researchers from Baylor set out to further explore how religion affects the views and beliefs of Americans in the 21st century.

For many, the underpass where Interstate Highway 35 crosses over South 5th Street in Waco marks just another section of Texas asphalt. But to others, it represents a place of hope, healing and changed lives.
