With a name translating to “the reason of Christ” in Latin, Ratio Christi is aiming to educate Baylor students on apologetics. Starting this fall, the new spiritual organization is implementing guest speakers, small study groups and community worship in an effort to teach students to defend the Christian faith with philosophical, historical and scientific arguments.
In order to advance to Nationals, the team had to compete in two competitions. They competed in Regionals and received a bid to advance to the Open Round Ceremonies (ORCs) where the team placed first.
“You’re never alone, you can struggle together and succeed together. Failure will happen and all you have to do is pick yourself back up,” Shearod said.
“I know that there are families with financial issues around the nation that haven’t been addressed,” Rabago said. “The kids make up the future generation, and I want to prolong and ensure accessible health care services to them.”
On Tuesday Kappa Delta Chi — a Baylor sorority that represents the Latina community — had a carnation flower sale to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Baylor chapter’s philanthropy.
The MOAS team — which is generally composed of 15 student in the spring and 25 in the fall — is looking to begin recruitment earlier for their upcoming year. McGraw said he hopes any interested students will email him.
The admission of students of color proved Baylor was moving forward. It showed a “point of pride” for Baylor to have international and Black American students attend the university.
To observe National Hispanic Heritage Month, student organizations at Baylor have joined together to organize events for the fourth consecutive year to spread awareness of Hispanic culture and celebrate its diversity.
