Fabled Bookshop & Cafe may very well be Santa’s workshop during this time of the year, as told by Elizabeth Barnhill. This adult “book buyer” spoke today about what books to buy for loved ones this Christmas at the monthly meeting of the Baylor Club’s Newcomers and Neighbors of Waco.

From books and records to free computer access, the Waco-McLennan County Library has been offering resources to the local community for several decades and holding events to spur greater involvement along the way.
According to the organization’s Connect page, volunteers made literacy kits for preschoolers in need to help millions of children from low-income backgrounds who don’t have the tools necessary to learn to read. Each literacy kit included a set of 26 flashcards with the letters of the alphabet and a thoughtful note.
As college students, finding time to volunteer or pinpointing meaningful ways to give back to the community can sometimes be a challenge. One such organization is STARS Book Clubs, where you can make an impact for many years to come.
A library is a hub filled with diverse voices, writing styles and stories. Through exploring all the options, children learn how to make sense of the world, its inhabitants and, most importantly, themselves.
Readers Meet the Author, a series highlighting the prolific work of Baylor faculty and staff, will hold two sessions this semester. These sessions will feature discussions from Dr. João Chaves and Dr. Greg Garrett about their respective works.
I’ve always been a proud owner of a library card. Honestly, it was one of the biggest things I missed about my hometown. It never crossed my mind to look into getting one in Waco until I checked my bank account and realized most of my paycheck was going toward books.
“If you can do anything in your power to just help someone in need or help your community, take full responsibility, go out, volunteer in your community,” Khushal said. “You never know how much your small hour of service can change someone else’s life.”
Professors should be cognitive of students’ time and try not to overload students with information or double up on topics.
There is a book genre for everyone that has the capability of turning reading into something enjoyable.
Using audiobooks was just the same kind of reading as doing so visually. After all, audiobooks are a valuable resource for those who are blind or perhaps for people who learn better audibly than visually.
