Cybersecurity Club at Baylor is a club that allows students to grow in their cybersecurity knowledge and skills while also providing mentorship opportunities to its members. The club also feeds into a competition team, the Baylor Cybersecurity Team, that is nationally ranked and competes against other schools across the country.

The Baylor Debate team is gearing up for the prestigious National Debate Tournament, set to take place in Spokane, Wash., from March 28 to April 1. With a legacy dating back to the Philomathesian Society of 1851, the team continues its legacy as it prepares to face off against the nation’s top collegiate debaters.

Fabled Bookshop and Cafe will host its fourth biannual “Buzzed Bee,” an adult spelling bee, on Feb. 28. This month’s theme is “Dr. Seuss,” featuring a playful list of “very silly and Seuss-y words,” according to Fabled’s communications manager Kai Jackson.

Gaming culture has long been a source of misogyny and exclusion. As far as hobbies go, gaming is incredibly inclusive; it doesn’t require certain physical characteristics for success. However, women still experience backlash for participating in this male-dominated sphere.

All-University Sing, one of Baylor’s most beloved traditions, is not just for fun. It’s also a competition. With only eight acts advancing to Pigskin Revue in the fall, competition can be fierce, especially in years like this one, with 20 Broadway-style performances from different organizations. There are various categories that factor into the judges’ scoresheets, but here are six elements that can make or break any Sing act.

Around the world, many television shows have stopped production due to recent strikes by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. This leaves many fans with nothing to watch or look forward to. However, there are still some shows airing, thanks to competition-based reality television.

Green and Gold Weekend will be hosting multiple activities that include: Gut Pak Run, the green and gold spring football game, softball, baseball, soccer, tennis and a variety of musical performances. Baylor Alumni will be hosting its BBQ Cook Off — a competition challenging participant’s grill skills — on Saturday at Bear Lawn, right outside of McLane Stadium.

I’ve seen competition bring people together in miraculous ways, unifying them under the bond of wanting to win. It turns individuals into teammates, while unexpected leaders often rise to the top, rallying people together toward a common goal.
