Taking a break from the frigid temperatures in Waco, Baylor women’s golf opened the 2024 season with a fourth-place finish at the Match in the Desert on Monday at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Superstition Mountain, Ariz.
“It’s always good to get in the win column,” Baylor head coach Nicki Collen said. “I think sometimes you just need the mojo back.”
Baylor track and field finished with nine competitors earning a medal, several personal bests and junior sprinter Nathaniel Ezekiel setting a new NCAA 600-yard record from the two-day Corky Classic at Texas Tech’s Sports Performance Center in Lubbock.
For the final time, No. 9 Baylor men’s basketball moseyed to Austin to take on Texas as Big 12 rivals. In a tight contest that came down to the last second, Longhorns junior guard Tyrese Hunter raced to the cup and stunned the Bears at the buzzer, lifting Texas to a 75-73 win on Saturday afternoon in the Moody Center.
Junior Oskar Brostrom Poulsen found a three-set win to give the Bears their third win of the 2024 season.
Looking at the games played so far this year, head coach Nicki Collen and the No. 12-ranked Bears have been a dominant force. On both sides of the ball, the Bears have been able to outperform their competition in nearly all statistical categories.
Baylor track and field opened its 2024 season, which consists of 15 meets across nine states and a program-record four meets in Waco, with an indoor meet on Saturday at the Fasken Indoor Track in Bryan-College Station.
Texas Rangers left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford said he hopes to be a role model for future Baylor Bears.

The No. 38 Bears pulled the upset against the No 21. Texas Longhorns Tuesday night at the Hurd Tennis Center, keeping the Bears NCAA tournament hopes alive.
The Baylor Bear’s men’s tennis team fell short Saturday in a 4-3 loss to the No. 12 Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Bears are now 11-9 overall, and 0-1 in conference play.
The Bears, now 7-6 at home, will look to find a victory on the road in Fort Worth against TCU on Friday.
