“My experience is that Baylor does a great job developing leaders because it has this focus on Texas, the church and the world,” Eckert said. “I feel like there is a great market for developing leadership for Texas, for the U.S. and then increasingly an international focus on Christian leadership.”
While the spring Welcome Weekend might be less known than its fall counterpart, it’s a beneficial time for transfers and new students to become established at Baylor, said Dr. Nathan Shelburne, director of New Student Programs.
The Baylor Counseling Center, along with the Center for Academic Success and Engagement, is helping students set themselves up for success in 2024 by offering simple steps to achieving goals.
“We usually emphasize the fall, and that’s maybe not wise,” Dr. Charles Ramsey said. “Maybe emphasizing the spring is something we need to get stronger at and realize the importance of. There’s a lot of people during this time in particular who are looking for community, and I think that’s our desire for each student — our invitation and our prayers that every student at Baylor would feel invited to join a community.”
Motorized scooter storage and charging are no longer permitted inside Baylor campus buildings, according to traffic, transportation and parking policy changes.
“I always feel lonely as an international student,” Liu said. “But when you go to the activities they host, you see a lot of international students from different places and even from the same country as you … and you feel belonging here.”

For many college students, the demands of classes and the pressure to fit in can feel overwhelming. But here in Waco, Baylor students are turning to The Table.
More than 500 attended the luncheon hosted by the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. In a room of some of Central Texas’s biggest donors and sponsors, Abbott shared some of the highlights from his February State of the State Address and the 89th Legislative Session. Abbott announced legislative wins on issues like housing affordability, small business success and education reform to an applauding audience.

Up and down the brick sidewalk, performative male students strutted their stuff for the crowd of over 100 students, bearing wired headphones on their heads, carabiners clipped onto the loops of their baggy jeans and guitars and tote bags slung over their shoulders.
Going to the bathroom is something everyone experiences, so why do some of the bathrooms on campus feel as though no one goes in there?
Organize a to-do list. Note your priorities, and block off time to complete them. I’ve found timetable blocking and scheduling to be very therapeutic for an expert procrastinator like myself.
Usually, when I need an energy boost, I have a lot of schoolwork and not enough stamina and motivation to get it done. But with Celsius, I can accomplish things and get them finished, and I believe it’s incredible how the drink also allows my body to burn fat.
You will feel less homesick if you make yourself at home. My biggest tip is to incorporate small aspects of where you’re from and allow yourself to love where you are. It won’t last forever.
Whether you live 50 miles or 500 miles from home, it can be all too easy to take the “out of sight, out of mind” approach when it comes to your relationships. Maybe you have time constraints or maybe you just plain forget, and there may always be a reason not to call home. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.
No amount of money or material things will bring genuine happiness.
