We’re in the homestretch this week. On Friday and Saturday, thousands of students will be taking a bus, a train or an airplane to head home for Thanksgiving break. Of course, nothing says travel like creating a playlist to get you through the trip.

“Join or Die” centers on the decline of community and lack of in-person relationships in America, and it focuses on the work of Dr. Bob Putnam and his book titled “Bowling Alone.” After the viewing, there will be a discussion session with the director’s siblings, Pete and Rebecca Davis, and the head of Creative Waco, Fiona Bond.

With 2023 coming to a close, it’s time to recognize the top albums that were released this year. (Be warned, Swifties: I’m not including any of Taylor’s re-recorded albums.)

“’Three Sisters’ is ultimately about remaining hopeful for the future, despite the boredom and anguish of everyday life,” Waco senior Kayla Bush said. “The characters in this play may feel a little foreign because of how they look and speak, but I think audiences will be surprised to realize that their characters are funny, hypocritical, messy and truly just human.”

There are just two more weeks until Baylor students get to go home for Thanksgiving break. In the meantime, here is some new music to get you over the hump of last-minute exams, projects and mid-semester stress.

As the weather starts to become bearable again, Waco has lots to offer to get you out of your residence hall or apartment and out on the town. From pumpkin patches to football, theater and live music, here’s what’s going on this week in Waco.

Each organist dressed up according to their piece, with costumes including masks, capes and hats. They were illuminated with orange string lights scattered across the floor and dramatic stage lighting that was coordinated to each piece.
