Within the first week on campus, flyers promoting services and ministries will be scattered in the Student Union Building and various churches will table on Fountain Mall. With endless possibilities and opportunities, students may attend services and events at numerous churches. This routine is well known as ‘church shopping.’

Being the first gent of Baylor is no ordinary opportunity. For Brad Livingstone, every day is a new chance to bring light into the world alongside his wife, Baylor President Linda Livingstone. From the basketball court to the Allbritton House, Livingstone has lived a multidimensional life as a basketball lover, a “Beatles freak” and a devoted husband.

It’s no secret that Baylor has produced a number of famous and talented alumni across all different fields, from prominent politicians to successful business owners. While those in the arts are often overlooked, numerous incredible women got their start here before entering the spotlight in acting, literature and the visual arts.

Burton currently works for the Houston Texans Cheerleaders and choreographs for high school drill teams on the side — but ever since Mission senior and Phi Gamma Delta Sing chair Christian Cavazos reached out to her in October, she has been collaborating with the fraternity to choreograph its All-University Sing act.

Holloway, like other Gen Z Christians, grew up in a cultural environment that sees digitization and documentation as core values. This is the “pics or it didn’t happen” generation, a mantra that has rubbed some church leaders the wrong way.

Following the 1954 Supreme Court case Brown v. the Board of Education — which began a decadeslong process of the racial integration of public schools — Baylor voluntarily adopted racial integration in 1963. While the university has made strides to embrace diversity and inclusion on campus since then, members of the Baylor community say there is always work to be done.

It’s hard to imagine 2023 without long denim skirts and the resurgence of Adidas sneakers. These trends shaped our social media feeds and bank accounts, but they also affected our life at Baylor. With 2024 being barely a month in, here are the ins and outs for Baylor.
