Texas held the first primary election on March 1, allowing citizens to vote in either the Democratic primary or the Republican primary to choose who they would like to represent the party in the general election in November.

Humor is a powerful tool. It allows people in challenging times to cope with difficult circumstances, but it can also be used to degrade and diminish. After the Feb. 22 Russian invasion of Ukraine, social media was at once hit with memes centered around the possibility of World War III, the military draft, Russians and Ukrainians and other related scenarios. In response, many people have fired back at the creators of these memes with a question: Is this not in poor taste?

“The reality is there are so many women that are also doing the exact same thing [as male figures],” Watkins said. “So it’s important [for women’s history] to study the Enlightenment, because what you see in that is the role and impact of intellectual women in past societies.”
