Add ‘hot girl walks’ to your daily routine

Chances are, you’ve heard of “hot girl walks,” the trend made popular by social media that motivates people to go outside and get active by going for a walk. While most trends fade quickly, this one doesn’t need to go out of style anytime soon.

Getting its claim to fame from TikTok, a hot girl walk is the term used to describe a long walk that helps people stay motivated to exercise and think positively about themselves while getting fresh air. As an added bonus, they are a good confidence booster.

Mia Lind, one of the creators who popularized the “hot girl walk,” said she spends time on her four mile walks reflecting on what she is grateful for and on her goals, hopes and dreams.

So, why exactly go on a hot girl walk?

We already spend time walking to class, but we utilize walking as a way to get from one place to another instead of actually appreciating a walk for all that it can be.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to exercise and can also help release endorphins, reduce stress, and boost immunity, which is helpful in the midst of the current flu season.

In a world of so much inconsistency and stress, going for a walk is a simple way to add routine to your day. Taking just 20 or 30 minutes to go for a walk each day is not a hard commitment to make. For one thing, walking doesn’t require a gym membership. It’s completely free and can be done relatively anywhere.

On your walk, take time to reflect on what you are grateful for, your biggest accomplishments or your future aspirations. If you don’t want to be left alone with your thoughts, walking is the perfect opportunity to listen to a new podcast, jam out to your favorite playlist or call a friend.

Recently, I’ve found that going for a walk is super refreshing, especially on a sunny day. Walking with others helps me to be more intentional in my friendships, but it also helps me to slow down, get some exercise and spend time outdoors.

There are not many valid excuses for choosing not to go for a walk. Find comfortable shoes, a friend to walk with and motivation to walk out the door.

Want to catch up with a friend? Go for a walk. Feeling overwhelmed and need to de-stress? Go for a walk. Need to find a new way to stay active? Go for a walk.

Just a few simple steps can turn walking into a habit that is worth repeating.
