With all the promotion Baylor does for the event, the preparation of updating and perfecting resumes and the careful selection of a professional outfit the night before, I would hope the event would be worth my time. But each year my hopes are dashed by the lack of options for journalism majors.
Lyon is a Baylor alumnus and has been part of the faculty at Baylor since 1975, starting out as a professor of sociology up until 1998 when he became dean of the Graduate School and has been in that position since. When he retires at the end of this academic year, he will have completed 50 years at Baylor. During his tenure as dean, he has witnessed the transformation and contributed to the growth of the graduate school.
After 68 years of Aramark Dining Services within the Baylor dining halls, a big change came. On June 1, Cartwheel Higher Education Dining Services took over as the new leader in food service management on campus.
“The Board of Regents and the university are working well together,” Mearse said. “I’m confident as we look to the future and particularly as we look to the implementation of the strategic plan that the best of Baylor is still to come.”
People may think finance is all about making money, but according to Dr. Shane Underwood, Baylor students are among those who are learning to use their skills to help the world.
Coming all the way from Yale University, assistant professor of psychology and neuroscience Dr. Francesca Penner joined the department this fall and is bringing research about parent-child relationships and mental health to Baylor.
As part of an R1 institution, two professors in the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work shared their experience with research and how it benefits the people around them.
Dr. Karynecia Conner, GSA’s diversity chair, said she organized the gala with the intention to shine a light on what Baylor is able to do for diversity in its research. In her speech, she said researchers should seek research topics as a means of ministry.
