Every year, Baylor volleyball head coach Ryan McGuyre chooses a word to define the season. Some years he thinks of it months before the season, in others, it reveals itself closer to the start of play. In his 10th year leading the Bears, he’s chosen TRUST as the name of the game: Triumphant, Refuel, Unity, Steadfast and True grit.

“No one can deny that Mulkey gets results,” Erhart said. “Her ability to coach a team to wins is impressive. But, how she gets those results seems questionable and concerning. I hope her players all feel safe to be the fullness of themselves around her, because good coaching in any sport is about much more than results.”

After claiming a victory over Texas A&M University in a penalty shootout on Oct. 30, Baylor women’s club soccer clinched a spot in the 2022 NIRSA National Soccer Championship, which is scheduled from Thursday to Saturday in Round Rock. This is the squad’s second straight year competing in nationals, but the journeys to the postseason in 2021 and 2022 could not have been more different.

Defensive linemen Siaki “Apu” Ika, Gabe Hall and Jaxon Player merge together on the line of scrimmage to create quite the trio for opposing offensive coordinators to deal with. Each head has a unique role, but joined, they serve to wreak havoc for opposing offenses.

Dave Aranda wasn’t jumping up and down when Baylor stopped Oklahoma State University on the “McPlay.” His stoic and composed approach has brought lots of early success to Waco.

Baylor volleyball is in Houston for this weekend’s Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup at the University of Houston. The Bears come into this tournament after their first road win of the season against Rice University on Wednesday night.

Baylor volleyball sits with a record of 5-7 heading into the weekend. Zoe Adom has led the Bears with 144 kills and 3.35 kills per set average. Sophomore outside hitter Thea Munch-Soegaard has contributed with 2.65 kills per set and 2.58 digs per set. Sophomore setter Amy Rosenbaum has 10.00 sets per set average.

I am absolutely thrilled with your decisions this year. Although the vast majority of America wants to see a playoff system and there are probably ways to have that make more money anyways, you guys have really stuck to your corrupt principles and kept the BCS Championship series.
