Kissling said she is most looking forward to the day of the races when she can see the runners out on what is known as the “toughest course in Texas.”

“We will be looking for more ways to enhance affordability, and growing our endowment is one of the best ways to do that, so [Student] Foundation scholarships are certainly critical,” Livingstone said. “The Student Foundation has done a tremendous amount of work to raise funds for student scholarships… They are wonderful ambassadors for our campus.”
While they may be known for wearing their classic green-and-white striped shirts and riding tandem bikes, members of Student Foundation contribute to Baylor in so many more ways than they will ever be recognized for.
The Bearathon, an annual half-marathon presented by Student Foundation, is known as “the toughest half in Texas” and has students preparing for it weeks and months in advance.
Ten years after his death, Daniel continues to make an impact on many people’s lives. His uncle, Dana Jones, said via email that this year, friends, family and former and current members of Kappa Omega Tau — Daniel’s fraternity — will be gathering at 6 p.m. Friday at George’s.

At approximately 3 a.m. Saturday, members of Student Foundation began chalking the 13.1-mile course for Waco’s own Bearathon, an annual half-marathon sponsored by the student organization to raise funds for scholarships.

The 12th Annual Student Foundation Bearathon and 5K run took place this morning. This year, the race hosted nearly 2,300 participants, said director of Student Foundation Ashton Cooper.
Baylor student Daniel Jones never finished Bearathon last year; he collapsed before the finish line. But his Kappa Omega Tau fraternity brothers are running on Saturday to honor his memory at this year’s annual race.
This year’s Bearathon marks the 12th year of the half-marathon and 5K presented by the Baylor Student Foundation.
Baylor students are leading one another toward a nutritious lifestyle while helping them train for Bearathon.
The Peer Nutrition Education group will host a free presentation Thursday evening about race nutrition for students interested in running the 5K of half-marathon Bearathon on March 22.

Students, faculty and staff are mourning the loss of North Richland Hills senior Daniel Jones who died Saturday during Student Foundation’s annual Bearathon.
Jones was nearing the end of the half-marathon when he collapsed on Fifth Street. The 23-year-old, who was first treated at the scene, died an hour after being transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.
If you would have asked me to run the Bearathon last year, I would have wondered why you were talking to me. Prior to the Bearathon, I had never run more than five miles at once.
