“While a shelter in Waco may have 15 or 20 people to care for 100 to 200 hundred dogs, the shelter in Guatemala only has about three or four people treating twice the amount of animals,” Cunningham said. “So, the 12 people we are able to bring on this trip, including myself and Mia, really helps alleviate the workers at the shelter too.”

Some of the recruitment events prospective new members can mark their calendars for are a painting class, a cupcake social, bowling night and a service project opportunity, which can be found on Baylor’s Student Activities website, according Hollywood, Fla. senior Jasmari Fontanez, who serves as the Chamber recruitment chair.

“I think we’ve really leaned into some of those things that have always been important to Baylor and we’re really seeing it pay off in the number of applications that we’re getting and… the quality of students that are coming to Baylor,” President Linda Livingstone said.

For the first time since its inception in 1969, Baylor’s Student Foundation is opening talent acquisition applications — a privilege previously reserved for rising juniors and seniors — to rising sophomores. Jefferson, S.D., senior and co-president Jensyn Younger said although applicants must be prepared to sacrifice their time, participation in Student Foundation makes it all worth it in the end.

Applications are now available to join student government elections. They can be found at www.Baylor.edu/sg and are due by 5 p.m. March 28. Applications are also available in the student government office in the first floor of the Student Union Building. Applications can be turned in to the student government office.
