Uptmore said that since becoming Southlake PD’s public information officer, his two main objectives have always been to humanize the badge and provide transparency. According to Uptmore, most police departments communicated in rigid, formal language at the time of his hiring. He said he changed that by using a more conversational tone, making messages more relatable and engaging.
On Sunday, senior pastor Jimmy Dorrell welcomed almost two full rows of college students to the service. Despite the church’s majority population of homeless adults, Dorrell said the church would never have existed without the inclusion and dedication of students.

Due to deteriorating weather conditions during the morning hours, Baylor University will close at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 9).
The Texas Department of Transportation hosted a final public hearing Thursday night on the construction of two new frontage road bridges over the Brazos River, which runs parallel to University Parks Drive in Waco. The bridges will span between University Parks Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard on Interstate Highway 35.

“Since July 1st, Baylor’s campus has had nine positives out of 48 tests,” Stern said. “And in the last month alone, we have had seven positives out of 29 tests, which is almost a 25% positivity rate.”

As Election Day nears on Nov. 4, Texans will vote on 17 proposed constitutional amendments, most related to taxes. Dr. Paul Mason, Baylor accounting professor, said many aim to help specific groups but come with financial trade-offs.
