For the first time ever, the Chamber Singers will perform a concert of choral pieces and art songs, which all use the text from the Brownings’ poetry. The Chamber Singers concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Armstrong Browning Library.
“Seeing this idea I was throwing around three years ago, and here we are, it’s happening. It’s been cool to have this whole thing come together,” Clarke said.
The music certainly reflected the experience and talent of the group. During the second to last piece, “One More for the Count” by Mike Lewis, trombonist Chris Estridge was a featured soloist. However, it wasn’t his solo itself that commanded the audience’s attention, but rather how he played. Over the bell of his trombone, he placed the rubber part of a toilet plunger and would open and close it over the bell to muffle the sound that left the instrument.
“Unlimited Love,” the first album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers since guitarist John Frusciante rejoined the band in 2019, is a nice treat. While this album is not exceptional, it’s a solid record that benefits greatly from the regained chemistry of the Chili Peppers’ classic lineup and return of longtime producer Rick Rubin.

Guest violinist and fiddler Mia Orosco-Kelso joined the Waco Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Camille Saint-Saens’ “Rondo Capriccioso,” a floating, playful tune dominated by the strings. Although the piece itself may sound light and fluffy, the work that goes into putting on a concert is not.

“Everyone there loves being there, and that’s the difference between high school band and college band. In high school, you have to be in marching band if you want to be in concert band, but people sign up for BUGWB because they love it so much and they keep coming back because it’s an amazing place. If the people weren’t there, it would be a completely different experience,” Nielsen said.

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” is filled with nostalgia for Swift herself and for those who grew up with her and her music. In “State of Grace” she sings, “… this is the golden age of something good and right and real.” That is exactly what this album is for her.
In the opening song, “Tides,” Ed Sheeran sings that he had been “… too busy trying to chase the high and get the numbers up.” Some of the songs off this album are proof of that statement. Some are not.
The Waco Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by Christina and Michelle Naughton and a special guest, Baylor men’s basketball head coach Scott Drew, will be performing at Vive La France on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Waco Hall.
Music, like all forms of art, is subjective. “Music of the Spheres” is a joyful, thematic and soothing album with a message we could all stand to take to heart.
“Where there is a will, there is a way,” Jordan Phillips, half of duo Apollo LTD, said. “I think that we kind of had a system, a method of creating, that we were pretty accustomed to and when the pandemic hit, it kind of forced us to change up how we did things. When we changed it up, we kind of realized that we could do it this way too.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing our grounds full of smiling faces again,” Chavra Ingram, HOT vice president of marketing and sponsorship development, said. “We missed everybody last year and we are just so excited to be open and have everybody come back this year.”

More than 75,000 people went to Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend, making it one of the state’s first large events since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
“Just to see the beauty of his creation through something as simple as an indie rock concert,” Mcwhirter said “Whether this turns out to be the biggest concert of the year or just another Common Grounds concert, it is just so cool to see our fraternity come together.”
“If I’m feeling inspired and want to write something, it’s there. It has a feeling of nostalgia but also excitement and being able to create something new,” Charlotte, N.C., senior Will Boatwright said.
