Junior catcher Sydney Christensen picked the perfect time to collect her first hit against a left handed pitcher this season. On a 2-2 pitch from O’Toole, Christensen laced an RBI double to left field that tied the game at 4.
Arizona kept the pressure on Baylor all game defensively and after blowing a 2-0 lead and in the seventh inning, it finally paid off as Wildcats’ freshman Jessie Harper’ single to center field send the Tucson faithful into hysteria as Arizona moved one game closer to returning to the Women’s College World Series.
Baylor was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, stranding 11 runners in a 4-1 loss to top seeded Texas Tech in a Big 12 Conference Tournament elimination game.
Baylor baseball dropped its third straight game Wednesday as West Virginia found its offensive groove early in an 11-1 victory over the Bears.
After being sent down twice earlier in the game, junior first baseman Shelby Friudenberg adjusted her approach at the plate as her three-run home run to center in the bottom of the sixth helped Baylor move one game closer to advancing to the Super Regionals.
Baylor softball advanced to the Super Regionals for the first time since 2014 after it beat James Madison for the second time in as many days behind the second regional no hitter from sophomore pitcher Gia Rodoni. In three games, the Baylor pitching staff allowed just two runs on four hits.
Baylor sophomore pitcher Gia Rodoni picked a good time to throw the first no-hitter in program postseason history. Rodoni no hit the Golden Flashes and Baylor beat Kent State 1-0 in its opening game of the NCAA Regional tournament.
