The Ministry Guidance Program, which director Dr. Dennis Horton described as the largest in the country, assists ministry students with almost any need they will encounter as undergraduates: scholarships, graduate school applications, connections to churches and hands-on opportunities to explore potential careers in ministry.

After a successful first camping trip in October, Kamp Love at Baylor is seeking to expand its ministry by combining love for the gospel with love for the outdoors — all for the greater purpose of cultivating campus unity and lifting up the name of Jesus.

To get away from the crazed frenzy of a college campus preparing for Thanksgiving break, students from the Wilderness Spirituality Chapel traveled to Meridian State Park over the weekend for a time of rest, renewal, exploration and fellowship with one another and God.

While I think films like this certainly have their place in making the Bible more accessible and relatable, especially to families with young children, I worry they simplify the incredible story of an indescribable God.

As students near the end of the fall semester, stress only seems to increase, as does the number of assignments and longing for the holidays. In the busyness of the fall, students might be overlooking one practice that has the potential to greatly improve their mental well-being: gratitude.

As I begin my junior year, I won’t tell you I have it all figured out — I don’t. What I will tell you, however, is not only do I think you will survive at Baylor, I believe you will thrive.

After incoming freshmen are notified of their acceptance to Baylor, they have until May 1 to submit their deposit. The Golden Wave Band uses the few weeks between the deposit deadline and the start of freshman advising in early June to reach out to any committed freshmen who may have band experience in their background.

Walker’s student government journey began his freshman year when he ran for class vice president with his continued collegiate campaign “Walk with Walker.” In a tight race, he lost.

Morrison’s lecture was largely attended by members of the Lifelong Learning program at Mayborn Museum who completed a three-week long course on the Brownings. Also in attendance were Baylor students and faculty ranging from deep knowledge or introductory experience with poetry.

According to the Annual Fire Safety and Security Report, which Baylor is required to publish annually on Oct. 1 as a result of the Clery Act, 25 sex offenses were reported on the main campus in 2019. In 2021, 30 offenses were reported — a 20% increase in two years.

No matter the issue, if there’s something you feel needs to be addressed or someone you feel needs to be represented, speak up for them. Your voice matters. You’ll never regret taking a bit of initiative to create positive change.

The Hankamer School of Business provides its students a unique, hands-on opportunity to manage over $14.5 million of endowments and donations through the large-cap portfolio management practicum.

At first, Marsh thought Lee was lying, because he hadn’t run a campaign. But after checking the results, he realized he came in tenth, securing a seat.

Tevis, who oversees faculty and student training on civil rights and Title IX policies as well as awareness and prevention, said she wanted to plan an activity that students could “take to remind themselves and remind others.” The name of the event, Strong Foundations, came from the concept that students are strong and have a strong support system, a belief displayed through the symbolism of the painted rocks.

“Baylor does a really good job of inviting seminaries that are really diverse in terms of theological dispositions,” Dean said. “In my conversations with the different representatives, realizing and getting to understand more of the heart behind each individual seminary. They all have, yes, one central mission, but also unique missions to their seminary, to their institutions.”

Baylor is home to many married professors who may not always work under the same department, but are able to share tradition, intellect and the green and gold spirit.

Bean began her education with a degree in theater, but after she was given the opportunity to direct a scene from “True West,” a play by Sam Shepard depicting American idealism, she realized her passion for directing.

The three finalists for the 2024 award, Dr. Jay Banner, Dr. Claire Katz and Dr. Kelly Lambert, were selected from a pool of nominees by a committee of Baylor faculty. The committee evaluates the strategies the faculty use to build relationships with their students to help them connect to the content they are studying.

As three theater arts students memorize monologues in preparation to grace the stage for the upcoming production of “Athena,” they also prepare to tell the unexpected yet simple story of two high-school girls who fence in honor of “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories,” the theme of Women’s History Month 2023.

Baylor hosted the 15 Big 12 schools present at Capitol Hill over spring break by creating schedules, forming lobbying groups and holding group dinners. Not only did current Big 12 Institutions such as the University of Texas attend, but future Big 12 members such as the University of Houston and Brigham Young University were present as well.

“What has gotten you to this level where you are right now is what you’ve done before. If you want a big change in your life, you’re going to have to make some big changes,” Aranda said. “Person over player is about helping guide people through that.”

Besides the fact Baylor’s campus is incredibly beautiful and offers plenty of outdoor study spaces, spending time outside holds many benefits to your well-being.

“When we come together as a group of women, I’ve seen that voice have a real effect and a growing effect across campus,” Pond said. “We’ve been heard across campus, we’re listened to, and we’ve been able to make a difference.”

Many Research 1 classified institutions — a prestigious designation recently achieved by Baylor — accept ASL courses as language credit for arts and sciences students, including the University of Texas, Clemson, Yale and Harvard.

Although Antioch has traveled to Edinburg for the Awaken trip for over 10 years, this is the first time it will return since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 100 students will be making a six-hour drive on charter buses on Mar. 4.

“There’s different levels to the hurt we’re all going through. Some of us are better at putting it away and hiding it than others,” Ash said. “Just be mindful of your audience. Don’t really throw words around just to seem cool or knowledgable.”

“I believe even more today how important it is that we have a university like Baylor in the broad and diverse landscape of higher education,” Livingstone said. “We’ve been really privileged to be successful at making tremendous progress on this vision.”

“One of the biggest challenges is making sure you can coordinate where the 200 members of the group you’re helping are getting to the places they need to go and being present for all the rehearsals,” Caughlin said.
